SETTLED IN LA PAZ, BAJA SUR CALIFORNIA

Our home for the winter, La Paz.
Costa Baja Resort and Marina

Darrell's fav sculpture on the malecon.
Paper boat dreamer; my favorite.
Leaping bronze ballena!

We are happy to be back in La Paz. I'll be sharing more of this wonderful little city with you all soon. In the meantime, we are busy settling in, getting El Tib spruced up from our 1,000 journey and D is catching up on sleep from his 800 mile car trip from Ensenada to La Paz. Very nice to have our Expedition in this city of 300,000 to visit friends, our favorite restaurants, galleries, the museum, and of course the Treatro de Ciudad for concerts. The car will also take us to inland spots when the northers blow down the Sea, making it too windy and cold to anchor out at the islands. (I know our SF Bay friends are laughing). First up is Todos Santos on the Pacific side of Baja, but, today we are heading downtown in search of cowboy boots for our anniversary present to one another. After all, we also live in the Sierra.

Although the shopping is fun here, especially during the Christmas season, the real reasons we are here are the beaches and the sailing.

Bahia Gabriel anchorage on the island of Espiritu Santo.

Balandra Beach, 5 miles from La Paz,
is a great kayaking spot and an anchorage too!
